A Letter from the Founder
Dear you,
Tea has always been part of my story. Before moving to the United States at a young age, I was born and raised in the heart of Central Asia, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where tea is more than a drink — it is a ritual of warmth, welcome, and connection. Every visit to family or friends begins with a cup, and every conversation flows around it. Growing up in this culture taught me that tea is not only something we drink, but something that grounds us, reminds us to pause, and brings people together.
When I moved to the United States, I carried that love with me, though over time I found myself swept into the rhythm of modern life. Coffee became the quick solution, but it came with its own imbalance: restless mornings, anxious afternoons, and a constant sense of being unsettled. It was during this search for calm that I discovered matcha.
From the first whisk, I felt something shift. The vibrant green color, the meditative ritual, and the gentle lift of focus without the crash reminded me of home, of intention, and of presence. It reconnected me with the stillness I had been missing.
As I began exploring matcha more deeply, I realized how misunderstood it often was. Many people had only tasted lower grades meant for culinary use, never experiencing the depth and purity of ceremonial matcha. I wanted to change that and share matcha in its truest and most beautiful form.
So I made a choice. I stepped away from a familiar path and committed myself fully to this pursuit — to learning, exploring, and building something that felt deeply meaningful. Every decision, every tasting, and every trial was guided by curiosity and a desire to create something honest and rare.
Together with my partner, we traveled to Kyoto, the birthplace of Japanese green tea. We met tea masters, walked through fields shimmering with first flush leaves, and in the months to come tasted matcha after matcha until we found the one that felt complete. From that moment, Liquid Luck Matcha was born.
We named our first release Un Matcha, inspired by the Japanese word un, meaning luck and fortune. With every sip, we felt a quiet sense of alignment, as if life itself were gently falling into place.
Liquid Luck Matcha is our way of sharing that feeling with you. Each tin carries not only the finest ceremonial matcha from Ujitawara, Kyoto, but also the story of a dream pursued with purpose. It is a reminder that stillness can be powerful, that focus can be soft, and that sometimes the bravest thing we can do is slow down and follow what feels right.
May each cup bring you focus, balance, and a touch of your own luck.
With gratitude,
Aliya Mekhmonova
